What is Breast Augmentation Aesthetic?

‍Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure conducted to increase volume, improve symmetry, and correct minor sagging of the breasts. For many women, having breasts smaller than normal can lead to a loss of self-confidence that affects their social life and choices in clothing. The use of silicone prostheses offers a permanent and satisfying solution with natural-looking results. This procedure can also be utilized to achieve a slight breast lift effect for patients with minor prolapse. Following the surgery, patients can still become pregnant and breastfeed, as the implants do not change the content or amount of breast milk. Additionally, modern silicone implants do not interfere with the evaluation of breast cancer screenings such as MRI, ultrasound, or mammography.

The modern prostheses used do not affect the evaluation of the results of the examinations such as mammography, ultrasound, MRI that will be used in the breast cancer screening in the postoperative period.

Breast Prostheses

The modern and safe breast prostheses (implants) are used today, depending on the developing technology. It is basically made of silicone. The outer parts, called the shell, are produced in a rough structure to assort with the surrounding tissue and reduce the capsule contraction development. It has a consistence compatible with the silicone tissue density inside. In terms of shape, the breast prostheses are produced in the form of “round” and “drop”. The shape, size and hardness of the breast prosthesis to be used in the breast augmentation is selected by the plastic surgeon, by taking into account the patient’s wishes and by considering the important criteria such as the patient’s current breast size, shape, shoulder width and body structure. Neither type of breast implant is superior to each other. What matters are the choices to be made according to the appropriate criteria.

About the Surgery

Different entry points are used in the skin to place the implant. The examples of these are the nipple convolution line, the nipple circumference, and the armpit line. Each application site has its own advantages and disadvantages. The selection is made together with the patient and the physician according to the patient’s breast structure and the plan where the prosthesis will be placed. Today, the under-breast convolution is the most preferred application area.

Another important issue is in which tissue layer the implant will be placed. The prosthesis can be applied under the breast tissue, under the muscle or under the muscle membrane. In the dual plan, the upper part of the prosthesis remains under the muscle and the lower part remains under the breast tissue. In the selection of the tissue layer where the prosthesis will be placed, it is aimed to hide the implant well and not be noticed from the outside. In the selection of the tissue layer where the prosthesis will be placed, the skin thickness in the breast area, the breast volume and muscle structure of the patient before the surgery are taken into consideration.

The breast augmentation is performed under the general anesthesia. You can be discharged from the hospital the same evening or the next morning.

After the Surgery

After the breast augmentation surgery, our patients can return to their daily lives within 5-7 days and can easily work at desk jobs. Since the skin incisions used are closed with aesthetic techniques, there is no need to stitch-up. These scars heal so well that they are not noticed in the late period and there is no obvious scar.
